Biography
The Killgirls are a 5-piece rocktronic timebomb ticking in South Australia. This synth heavy indie-electro band are gaining momentum having picked up national airplay in Australia with the J’s and supports for Art VS Science, End of Fashion, Bang Bang Eche, Oh Mercy!, Mstrkrft, Crystal Castles, The Swiss and The Bumblebeez. They have played Parklife, Schoolies, Fuse’s Explode Showcase, the opening of Feast Festival and Adelaide’s night of nights, the Fringe Festival Opening where they rocked a crowd of 25,000 people and played with a 15-piece African Choir.
‘This A-team of Australian synth-rock slayed at the Adelaide Fringe Opening Night extravaganza’
- FuseFestival.com
In the lead up to the launch of their debut EP in 2009, The Killgirls kidnapped fans for an intimate listening party and electro-acoustic gig after luring them into an internet/web based ‘treasure hunt’. The stunt fuelled their sold out launch (which raised the bar on killer Adelaide parties) held in the heritage listed Queens Theatre complete with mirror ball skyline, kick ass light show and a spa.
‘...Best launch ever!’
- dB Magazine
The Killgirls 5 track EP was recorded at Adelaide’s Broadcast Studio with Melbourne based producer Jed Palmer. It was mastered by Mike Marsh at the Exchange in London whose working credits include the likes of The Prodigy, The Chemical Bros, The Klaxons and fellow Aussies The Presets and The Midnight Juggernauts.
‘ I hope they start getting some real exposure because they have star quality.’
- Richard Holt / Traffik
Currently the band has began a partnership with Melbourne based fashion label Gibson and is working on the follow-up to their 2009 debut and shifting their focus to building a National profile.

What's goin' on The Killgirls? Your tears evoke a taste as memorable as honey. May you be as vivid as your hallucinations. Please let me hear more of that wonderful sound. All my thoughts are lost to your graceful gaze? Your eyes are like spheres of crystal water filled with shimmering dreams. Your intoxicating reflection can but incorporate freely into the powerful surface of a disintegrating mirror set afloat upon a swarm of locusts. The sand runes crossing your divided consciousness do speak of contemptuous monsters being slayed by flying phoenixes. I keep searching for you between the cushions. The skin I shed is a perfume that makes water bubbles so terribly clear to me. Cities crumble, skies ignite spontaneously in your presence. I love your eyes, I know they can stare through my thoughts. The elves that play in the toasters wash their drum sticks in honey and sing strikingly colored anthems in perfect harmonious pleasure. If I could have just one wish, it would be to wake up to your songs in the morning.
That's us, hiding in the bushes, waiting for you to stumble by in the dark...that's us, at the back of the bus, smoking and reading girlie mags...that's us, spreading rumours 'bout your shady past and that's us, tearing the stage apart at the Crown & Anchor with the illustrious Don Fernando fresh from Hellburn Victoria and the half a brick in a sock that is Desert Crooks!!
