The KING RATS were formed in Los Angeles in 1989 and began touring in Europe as a ROCKABILLY trio. The founding, member John Whiteleather, originally from Pennsylvania, began living in Sweden off and on in 91 and based the band there while continuing to tour in both Europe and the US.
The KING RATS have recorded several CD's releases on labels in Finland, Sweden and Germany with worldwide distribution, giving them exposure to a vast audience.
The shows are action packed with a unique blend of Rock n Roll, Rockabilly and Country. Mixing in alot of sing along and audience contact has made The KING RATS a cult band with a faithful following. The songs are catchy and have witty content that glorify the old fashioned art of rock and roll, cars, girls and drinking!
The KING RATS have also appeared on MTV Sports Rock and Jock B Ball Jam 96, 97 having made the opening video and 3 live songs during the game.
The KING RATS continue to tour Europe and the US as their following grows. John Whieleather also does SOLO performances and often appears with such west coast Florida bands as The GIT-R-DUNZ and DEVIL'S HIGHWAY.
The SOLO SHOWS highlight the classic rock n roll songs made famous in the 50's n 60's to present. Even a bit of Irish, a bit of classic country! (Beatles, Creedence, Elvis, Bruce, Tom Petty, Van Morrison, Hank Sr and Jr, etc.). So whether Club, Festival or Tiki Bar, with the band or solo, see ya'll for some real ROCKIN' FUN!
