CAMPAIGN FOR CARE celebrated the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE, 9-21-09, by distributing 300 hand-tied fleece blankets/foam pads/hygiene bags/blank stamped envelopes with stationary/socks/knit hats for the homeless children and adults sleeping on the streets of Skid Row in Los Angeles. We wish to thank all the contributors and volunteers who have made this special day possible, especially the students from schools throughout Los Angeles and Orange County who made all the blankets out of concern and care for the homeless. They have been instrumental in the effort, and their kindness and many notes of encouragement have been a tremendous inspiration. Campaign For Care belongs to everyone who participates in any way, and we are so touched by the spirit of volunteerism that we have witnessed in the youth. They are the hope of the future, and we are so pleased and proud of them for their sense of duty to help those less fortunate. With much gratitude and admiration,
Stacy Tuttle CAMPAIGN FOR CARE project to assist homeless children and adults in Los Angles and beyond

A STATEMENT FROM EXENE CERVENKA June 2, 2009 After some months of not feeling 100% healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Apparently, it has been affecting me for quite some time.
Although this is obviously unfortunate news, I am choosing to see the positive in it. I, and X as a band, have supported the Sweet Relief charity since the mid-1990's; the irony of this is not lost on any of us. Sweet Relief was started as an aide to uninsured artists by musician Victoria Williams when she herself was diagnosed with MS in 1992.
While this diagnosis will most certainly mean some changes for me, personally, it will not affect my commitments to the current X U.S. tour, nor will it affect my solo album that is slated for release this fall on Bloodshot Records.
My focus will certainly be on maintaining my health--many people remain strong and continue to live their lives as productively as they had before an MS diagnosis and I plan to be one of those people. HAPPY BIRTHDAY EXENE!!! It is wonderful to celebrate another year of glorious YOU! How deeply your contributions to humanity have touched our lives, and the world. You are an angel of music with a heart full of light and brilliance. One strong lady who can keep up with the boys, but never lost that feminine touch, the love and nurturing capacity of a truly giving woman. You are beautiful inside and out, a huge inspiration to our family, and certainly everyone who knows you. Thank you for helping CFC and the homeless, we are forever grateful for your kindness and caring. The CFC Martin Luther King Jr. day distribution for the homeless of Los Angeles was a great success! 318 hand-tied blankets, 180 rain ponchos, 206 bags of hygiene items, 392 pairs of socks, and 195 blank stamped envelopes with stationary distributed. We had nearly 200 volunteers walking through Skid Row, giving out the items to those in need, it was beautiful and very moving to see. It occurred to me that if people of all backgrounds, religions (& non), races, and ages (3-85!) could come together for a common cause to help others on this small scale, perhaps there is great hope for more brotherly love and tolerance in the world. The next day was a New Day, and we are optimistic for the future! This was supposed to be the New World...finally a glimpse of hope on the horizon! Love you always & forever, Exene. Thanks for the courage to ignore the naysayers, your example has been instrumental to us. Love and admiration, Stacy, Tim, Andrew, & Jordan Tuttle CAMPAIGN FOR CARE XOXOXOXO
There are no words for how great both your nights in Seattle were. I could have gone every night this week and not gotten enough. And I heart Dead Rock West.
