The world is under threat. Governments have proven useless. The military is at it's wits end. Superman is dead. What will save us this time? Well our unlikely savior comes in silver pvc, armed with hellcat attitude and thousands of collective years of interstellar street cred. Will the human race ever be the same again? It's affirmative, The Kosmonauts are GO!!!! With their pony tails swinging and swaying, this band will have will have any alien monster on it's knees and audiences begging for more.
Taking influence from The Ramones, The 5,6,7,8's, The Cramps and Dick Dale, these girls really are something special and after just a few short months on the scene, they have already made a name for themselves by gigging with bands like The Hellphones and FuziGish. With songs like Long Pig Luau (an ode to Hawaiian cannibalism), Trailer Park Hero (bad girls, bad taste in men) and Invasion of the Monster Chicks (poor Betty and Barney - they never saw it coming), we have come to expect the bizarre and freakish imagery from these girls. Don't be fooled into thinking this is just another powerpunkpop chick band, there is depth here and the songs are delivered with an educated tongue in cheek.
It must be said though that it's pretty tough being revloutionary and The Kosmonauts have taken a bit of flack for being a little too far out, which raises the question "What the fuck???". In a world of middle of the road, cock driven rock and commercial radio that literally sounds like commercial upon commercial, how could we not accept our PVC clad saviors?
NOTE: We'd like to pay tribute to our singer, Lulu, who took her own life on 17th January, 2007. We will miss our friend.
After almost three years of being a band, we've finally knuckled down
to release an album. To celebrate this momentous occasion we're throwing three parties. It would be nice to have you there.
18 July - Johannesburg - Alexander Theatre 1 August - Cape Town - EVOL 2 August - Stellenbosch - Klein Libertas Theatre
Thank you for your kind message. I will pass it along to Horatio.
My friends and I quite enjoyed both songs on your page.
Please spread the word about how Horatio Lee Jenkins' exceptional drinking abilities allowed him to humiliate Satan. So many lives could be touched and uplifted by his fabulous story and beautiful song.
And get "Drunker Than Satan"! It is amazing!
Thank you, Deacon Frederick Leroy Elroy Smith
