The tao is in fact well beyond all terminology or "tense"
It concieves and is beyond all things we existential beings "know"
It is beneath and beyond "space" and "time"
& even (behind &) beyond both being and non-being
It is the "nameless"
Infinite & eternal in its unmanifest (unmeasurable) inconcievable nothingness ("o")
& Although naming it does adulterate its pure truth with human tendencies
putting it in a human "tense" does not of course eradicate its subtle All enduring, pervading and permeating truth
but instead transfers it from the eternal and nameless
to the existential & named
Becoming their mother
That it may "Exist"
Through them
& them by & of it
& so we name this unnameable universal essence
"Tao"

& It is what we all exist because of/by
& as the embodiment of
