Myspace BackgroundsThe LAKOTA Band is the brainchild of founder "Big" John Waltman. In mid 1998 after several months away from the music scene due to the loss of his former band mate Richard Wachs, Big John felt the urge to once again start playing live music. He was asked to do the music for a pig roast for a friend. After calling several musicians that were close friends of Big John, a put together band was made for the day. Drummer Randy McGowen a former bandmate from years past joined in the new venture. Just a week later BJ headed to one of the local music stores to ask another musician if he knew any bass players. It is here that bassist Marc Cournoyer is contacted and entered The LAKOTA band.
After a few get togethers, we all decided that we wanted to add another guitarist. Now in need of another guitarist, BJ call an old friend Jimmy Allen and asked if he knows anyone? To BJ supprise, Jimmy says me ! Finally after alot of work The LAKOTA Band is in its present state.
