HERE IS WHAT THE PRESS HAD TO SAY
Now to London’s newest gonzo rock renegades The Lancaster Bombers. With their debut single sleeve cover designed by legendary folk-punk visionary / pisshead Shane MacGowan, it’s little surprise that ’Cruelty Boxes’ sounds like The Stooges and Shaun Ryder flailing around in a bucket of boiling ether.
KRISSI MURISON – NME
Deep Beneath the city, something is stirring. At 1am, Camden four piece The Lancaster Bombers saunter onstage. The sound is a jagged mess - a brutal pile up of the Stones, The Sweet and The Happy mondays.
PAUL MOODY – NME
One aviation website describes the planes as the heavy boys that did the damage. The band that takes their name have a similar attitude to music. Although they come from the North London scene, playing their debut gig at the in April 2005 and numbering Shane MacGowan and the Libs among their fans, they sound nothing like the effete post-Libertines wannabes doing the rounds.
GED M - SOUNDSXP.COM
The sensation is of some huge aircraft revving its engines up to speed and being held poised on brakes that are straining to let go and loose the huge machine into the heavens. A pent-up energy sparks across the crowd as chaotic chords and blistering drums ground themselves into receptive ears - and The Lancaster Bombers take off with a roar that must be heard across the Thames
VIRTUAL FESTIVALS
The noise this band make is for the most part, utterly enticing. Syd Barrett takes on The ’Mary Chain!
ROSS BENNETT - DROWNED IN SOUND
To me it was like the best of the last 40 years of music rolled into one band, the gutarist was churning out slomo boogie from hell, while mssr vocals contorted away. Aah bliss, I swear yesterday night I believed they are the best band at the moment, at least for me. But I was drunk
LAST FM
Dandy noise terrorists The Lancaster Bombers have rapidly become the new antithesis of easy listening
MARK FERNHYHOUGH – THE STOOL PIGEON
The Lancaster Bombers believe in the salvation of the soul via the medium of rock n’ roll”
ANN SCANLON – L’UOMO VOGUE
