"Each time a person stands up for an ideal or acts to improve the lot of others or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."

PROFILE PAGE SONGS
In December 2004, shortly after the U.S. presidential election, Adam Levin wrote Land of the Free (A Different Page CD) as a poetic expression of the political and social climate in the United States so evident at the time of the election and its aftermath. It was performed with Wendy Boulding at the Department of Peace Campaign's New York City rallies in 2005. As did some of the speakers at those events, the song speaks of overcoming the hopelessness of the status quo. And although it was written prior to Hurricane Katrina, its lyrics rather vividly anticipate the social, political, and even physical impact of that disaster and its mishandling by the federal government.
In It Makes No Sense (et al. CD), a pacifist father warns his militant son against volunteering for a senseless war overseas. Guardian Angel (A Different Page CD) conveys, among other things, the principles of social advocacy and charity.
Performed at the Department of Peace Campaign's New York City rally in 2004 and echoing some of (founder) Marianne Williamson's remarks there, Walls Start Falling (et al. CD) expresses the belief that peace must start from within. By shere coincidence, it was written a few days before the Berlin Wall was torn down. An alternative, two-part version with singers Wendy Boulding, Annette U-Bet and Caitlin Franklin is featured on the DVD See It.
Inspired by his experience near Ground Zero on September 11, 2001, Adam wrote Keep Walking (LiveOnTape CD and See It DVD, in profile video below) for New York Artists Unite to Support World Trade Center Disaster Relief. This premiere performance with Wendy Boulding was recorded at the relief benefit just days following the song's completion. The song was later featured at Marianne Williamson's opening rally for the Department of Peace Campaign in New York City.
ver bal o sis (Blissful Behemoth CD) is about a condition that can afflict anyone in a lingual environment, and is most common among politicians, television evangelists, lawyers, and public relations professionals. PART 1 ('Inspired by the Sound of Your Own Voice') contains sung and spoken characterizations of excessive rhetoric, interspersed with a simulated speaking voice demonstrating talk without content. PART 2 ('Verbalosity') features a montage of authentic recordings of 'verbalositic' banter taken from various sources. (It pre-dates Zappa's 'Porn Wars', to which it has invited some comparisons.) PART 3 ('Family Discussion') features a discussion consisting of just one person, and the sound of people in a crowd all talking at the same time.
Live cover songs include John Lennon's Imagine, Peter Gabriel's Don't Give Up, and James Taylor's On the 4th of July.
Hear Dick Cheney oppose an invasion and occupation of Iraq...
........
This C-SPAN footage was recovered on August 11-12, 2007 and has been circulated by MoveOn.org and others. Ironically, Cheney makes some of the same observations and arguments as current war critics in opposing an invasion and occupation of Iraq.
Cheney's previous boss, President George H.W. Bush, opposed the 2003 invasion. So did Bush Sr.'s secretary of state, James Baker, and national security advisor, General Brent Scowcroft. All three had extensive knowledge and experience in foreign and military affairs but their advice was nevertheless rejected by President George W. Bush, Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, and even Vice President Cheney himself.
