Olivier (guitar) created THE LAST EMBRACE in 1998. In 2000, the band seemed to have found its style, which could be best categorized as atmospheric metal. This was also the year they played their first gigs. With the help of Stephan May they've recorded a EP in 2001 (including their first singer, Nathalie). In early 2003, their first CD became available. This year was also filled with live performances, such as The Rotonde Festival in Hirson (France, with PARADISE LOST, SAXON, AFTER FOREVER...), the First Metal Female Voices Festival in Brussels (Belgium, with EPICA, ANTHEMON, AUTUMN...) and also few gigs in Paris. In 2004, The Last Embrace opened for the Parisian gig of THE GATHERING and played many concerts with bands like VANDEN PLAS, ASRAI, EVE OF DESTINY. The end of 2004 was a period of trouble for the band. In a short period of time, three members decided to leave the band. In June 2005, with a new line up (including a new singer, Sandy), The Last Embrace recorded its first album called INSIDE. Once again, Stephan May was chosen for the recording and the mix, Goran Finnberg was chosen for the mastering. In 2006 and 2007, the band mainly played acoustic gigs (several times with DANNY CAVANAGH -ANATHEMA- and also ANTIMATTER, LEAFBLADE, FAITH AND THE MUSE...). At the fall 2007, Vik (bass) leaves The Last Embrace before the recording of the second album. Aerial is recorded in 2008 at Delicates'son and Whitewasteland studios. Benjamin Joubert was chosen for the mastering.
Aerial is about to be available fall 2009 by Longfellowdeeds records (distribution soundworks / season of mist).
Anthony joined the band as the new bass player and THE LAST EMBRACE is ready to present this second album.

En 2000, le style du groupe s'affine et s'affirme alors dans le métal atmosphérique. Cette année est celle des premières scènes et de la rencontre avec Stéphan May (à ce moment producteur du groupe The Old Dead Tree). Il va leur permettre d'enregistrer un EP cinq titres en 2001.
Cette demo devient disponible en 2003. Arrivent alors les premiers concerts en compagnie de groupes internationaux (Paradise Lost, Vanden Plas, After Forever...) comme à la septième édition du festival de la Rotonde à Hirson ou encore le Metal Female Voices Fest à Bruxelles.
En 2004, The Last Embrace poursuit les concerts et se retrouve en première partie de The Gathering à l'Elysée-Montmartre (Paris).
Le dernier trimestre 2004 et le début d'année 2005 sont une période difficile pour TLE... Un changement important de line-up est inévitable et le groupe entame alors une nouvelle étape de son évolution.
Ainsi Laurent, leur ingénieur du son live, devient le guitariste attitré. La place vacante au poste de claviériste ne l'a pas été longtemps avec l'arrivée de Pierre-Henri qui a déjà joué avec Alexis (batterie) dans d'autres formations. Pour trouver une nouvelle chanteuse suite au départ de Nathalie, des annonces sont posées sur divers sites internet. Sandy a su convaincre le groupe par ses influences variées et sa voix qui correspondait aux attentes des musiciens.
C'est au mois d'Aout 2005 que The Last Embrace enregistre son 1er album, Inside, toujours avec Stéphan May aux manettes. Goran Finnberg s'occupe alors du mastering. Ce disque sort sous la signature du label Longfellowdeeds records en 2006.
Les echos de la presse spécialisée sont assez encourageant concernant Inside et, en 2006 et 2007, c'est principalement par des concerts acoustiques que les musiciens font la promotion de cet album sous un coté plus intimiste en partageant des scènes avec de nombreux artistes comme Faith and The Muse, le guitariste d'Anathema, Danny Cavanagh, ou encore Mick Moss d'Antimatter.
Fin 2007, c'est peu avant d'entamer l'enregistrement d'un second album que Vik, bassiste depuis le debut du groupe, décide d'arreter l'aventure. C'est donc avec un bassiste de session (Xavier Zolli) qu'Aerial est enregistré en 2008 aux studios Delicates'son et Whitewasteland. Le mastering est réalisé par Benjamin Joubert.
Aerial sort en automne 2009 chez Longfellowdeeds records (distribution soundworks / season of mist). Cet album est sans doute à ce jour celui qui reflète le mieux au fil des titres les diverses influences musicales de TLE : de la pop au rock progressif, le tout soutenu par des ambiances atmosphériques ou parfois métal.
Anthony ayant rejoint le groupe à la basse, The Last Embrace est pret à presenter ce second album.
