Interests

  • General

Showcasing local artists in Late Seating events, checking out other local art events (let us know about your events and shows) and generally supporting local art and local businesses.
  • Music

The Louisville music scene is awesome! Just some of the groups we like: Wax Fang, Anton Mink, Ultra Pulverize, Your Highness Electric, Lucky Pineapple, Pokey LaFarge, One Small Step, Tamara Dearing, Ponty's Camper, Leigh Ann Yost, Brigid Kaelin, My Morning Jacket, Venus Trap, Harry Lewman, Adventure, Follow the Train, The Photographic, A.M. Sunday, I Am Is, Pavement, Wolf Parade, Neko Case, The Dresden Dolls, The Decemberists, Sarah Elizabeth, Ron Whitehead's Southside band
  • Movies

Hedwig and the Angry Inch, among others. It's based on the stage cult rock musical which, by the way, rocked the house at Actors in September 2007. Keep your eyes posted for other fantabulous plays (and one book) that were created into great movies, like Glengarry Glen Ross, Pride & Prejudice and A Raisin in the Sun, all of which will be at Actors in Fall 2008. If you dig old movies, check out Louisville Film Society (look in our Friends). Do you ever notice that when Louisville appears in movie they drive in nonsensical fashion? Check out Stripes and Elizabethtown - they're basically driving in circles or teleporting.
  • Books

All the King's Men by Robert Penn Warren, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, The Epicure's Lament by Kate Christensen, All of Us by Raymond Carver, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger, The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved by Hunter S. Thompson, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, The Last Night of the Earth Poems by Charles Bukowski
