LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL came into being around a year ago when two Valencian musicians, Gabriel Piñana and Germán García, met a Scot, George Mattingley, who agreed to have a go at writing lyrics to their music. The music of LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL is the result of a search, over several years, for a new, powerful and individual sound. The name, LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL, comes from the name of the first group that Gabriel Piñana founded with Nacho Gil in the 1980s. Their idea was to find a name for a band that was spelt the same in English and Spanish and that contained the initials L.S.D., firstly as a tribute to John Lennon and his amazing “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” and secondly to provoke a society undergoing change by creating uncertainty. That same night, Gabriel and Nacho painted the name LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL all over the old, bohemian Barrio del Carmen district of Valencia. The next day Valencia awoke to a mystery. The media reported on the event suggesting possible meanings including a new codename for a drug or a religious sect…From then on, the name was absorbed into the collective consciousness of a generation.

LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL es una nueva banda de Nueva Psicodelia y blues rock alternativo de Valencia (Spain) formada por los musicos valencianos Gabriel Piñana y Germán Garcia, y por el escocés George Mattingley el cual se encarga de escribir las letras de las canciones en inglés. La música de LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL es el resultado de la búsqueda durante años de un sonido diferente, fuerte e intenso. El nombre de LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL viene del primer grupo que fundó Gabriel Piñana con Nacho Gil en los años ochenta. La idea original fue encontrar un nombre que se escribiera igual en inglés y en castellano, y que tuviera las iniciales L.S.D. Primero como homenaje a John Lennon y su extraordinaria "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" y segundo para crear incertidumbre y provocar a una sociedad en cambio. Esa misma noche cogieron un bote de pintura y dos brochas y se dedicaron a llenar el Barrio del Carmen de Valencia de pintadas con el nombre de LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL. Al día siguiente Valencia amaneció con un nuevo misterio que descubrir. Los medios de comunicación se hicieron eco de la misteriosa pintada y su posible significado: apología de las drogas, una nueva secta... y no era más que la nueva banda de dos jovenes amigos. Luego ese nombre " LAUDABLE SEPIA DOMINICAL, se quedó en el subconsciente colectivo de aquella generación valenciana.
