About me: Formed in England in the Spring of 2000, the Lazy Jacks Mess is a living history group recreating the campaign life of the American Civil War soldier, both Confederate and Federal, in all theatres of the war.
We also have a civilian sector of both male and female impressions, who along with the military impression, portray these roles to the highest standard of authenticity currently possible.
The Lazy Jacks attend American Civil War events worldwide both independently and as part of the American Eagles Society.
If you would like to get actively involved with some of the most authenticity-minded living historians in Great Britain, please drop us a line.
Who I'd like to meet: Other like minded living historians from around the globe.
Welcome, It is only me here I do not have a staff. I could use your help. If someone e-mails you something special, please copy and paste it, I would like you to send it to me so that I may re post it. If there is a bulletin posted and you feel so moved, I would want you to respond so that I might pass your response on to the person in need. I need for you to be a good steward for me, as to send me information of people in need of prayer and guidance. (I.E. Some place to turn)I would hope this is the start of a good friendship and would ask that you bring others to our site. The next time your by our page will you stop in to sign the Guestbook? In Christ love,
"It is because I love him that I wish to be foremost where our noblest will be found---under the Palmetto flag. Nothing should make him for one moment forget his holiest right. The right to defend the soil & honor of Carolina." -Lucy Holcombe Pickens
The burned ruins of Columbia, South Carolina, from the State House steps, 1865
"But amidst all, my greatest wish is that so much heroism, and suffering, and blood, may not at least be uselessly expended; and this, and every other record of them may freely be given to the flames, if from the ashes 'shall arise a bird which shall avenge them all.'" -Lucy Holcombe Pickens
"But it is not a contest for victory, but the sword drawn by this brave little state [South Carolina] is a solemn & heroic protest against wrong, & in vindication of our natural rights---...you must feel...that I am where duty & honor demand me, and whatever dangers surround me, I will be with God's help, true to my name and blood..." -Lucy Holcombe Pickens
