Yaye! The Lemon Tree's alive. Superb news for the arts in Aberdeen. I'm still around, record bag at the ready should it be required. Love and positive vibes, D x
Sooooooo pleased with this news. Congratulations to the Lemon Tree and all who helped secure it's future. I hope to be playing there in 2008. Would love to be part of a re-opening show if there are any plans!!

Great news in the Press and Journal this morning - The Lemon Tree has been rescued and will be run from now by APA (Aberdeen Performing Arts, a charitable trust). Not sure when it will re-open, how many of the previous staff will be there and when gigs will be announced, but hey! The best live music venue in Scotland (if not the UK) has a future again and I can't wait for the next time I will be queuing at the door!!
Steve
PS is there any chance that someone could delete all the crap comments that are nothing to do with The Lemon Tree or music?
The first gig I ever went to was in the Lemon Tree - Reef in 1996 and I was fifteen and traveled down from Inverness especially. I've lost count of the number of excellent acts I have seen in there since but there have been a fair few! Gutted to see the place close. A huge loss for Aberdeen, I am so sorry guys xXx
I have such happy memories of the Lemon Tree, I have seen some magnificent performances over the years and thought I would list just some of them to show what a brilliant venue it has been:
Loudon Wainwright III, Nerina Pallot, Doghouse Roses, Altan, Brian Kennedy, KT Tunstall, Eliza Gilkyson, Cara Dillon, Gwyneth Herbert, Niki King, Finniston, Jacqui Dankworth, Ben Taylor, Kathryn Williams, Damien Rice, Gretchen Peters, Julie Fowlis, Karen Matheson, Luke Toms, Nickel Creek, Ruarri Joseph, Thea Gilmore and Athena. Some of those are major artists and some were unknowns before they became famous. I cannot recall a single gig that I regretted going to, but there have been quite a few that I was sorry to have missed!
Can other regulars post their lists of gigs attended?!
Very sad news that the campaign did not raise enough money to save the Lemon Tree, I am amongst many regulars in saying that it was without doubt Scotland's best music venue. Many musicians will endorse that view. I feel sorry for the hard working staff who brought such quality artists to Aberdeen, I hope that we can have something similar again, hopefully in the same building and with the same staff!
Best wishes for everyone connected with the Lemon Tree.
Steve PS shame about all the crappy messages below, MySpace does have a minority of sad users. I hope they can be deleted or reported as spammers.
