The Leroi's is a rock group from Oulu / Helsinki, Finland influenced by different music styles such as jazz, soul and progressive rock. The band was put together by guitarist and composer Aleksi Ranta who wanted to bring together his friends and fellow musicians from jazz bands and different projects to work on the songs which he had written during the last few years. The singer Maria Iivonen composes a big part of the melodies and writes the lyrics while the rest of the band work on their respective parts. The idea was also to combine these personal players in more mainstream music where everyone still has the freedom to express themselves.
The first demo was recorded during 2007-2008 in several locations because of the schedules of the band members. The demo was recorded using a method called "Perse edellä puuhun" which means recording, then changing everything and re-recording again, requiring nerves of steel and a lot of time. After some serious twisting and turning, however, the band found a sound of their own and things started to work smoothly.
