Influences
The 2009 WAMI Bluegrass Artist of the Year and 2008 WAMI CD Roulette Winners Liberty Bluegrass Band is dedicated to traditional bluegrass music. We are inspired by the late Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Jimmy Martin and Carter Stanley. We all still love Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Ralph Stanley and all the old timers still out there putting out great music.
Our current sets include influences of artist such as Chris Knight, OCMS, and believe it or not- Lynard Sknard.
Our current new release Goin Burlap includes 4 original songs which showcase the strengths of the band. If you want hard drivin bluegrass, we have it in Nashville Blues. If you want a love found song, we have it in the original Why Not Me. If you want a slower rock in' song, we have it in Simple Man. If you want a good ole' gospel tune, we have it Two Coats. And we have what is making LBB's sound unique, a country tune put to a honky-tonk swing with a bluegrass sound, we have it in Highway Junkie. All these songs are performed live with a great audience response.
Likewise, its always a treat to meet and hear out of state bluegrassers--Jalopy in particular is a really wonderful venue located a little off the beaten path, but the owners are very musician friendly, and are probably thrilled that a real bluegrass group is be gracing their stage.
Happy Trails while yer heading east to our amazing metropolis! If you ever need to advice on places in the Northeast to play, let me know and we can chat about that.
