The Library Project is an artist led organization committed to supporting and facilitating artist’s contextual/ theoretical practice. We are currently based in Red Wire Studios. Our long term aim to acquire and run a resource drop in space which will house a range of literary materials, internet access and act as a hub for local artists to meet, discuss, debate and disseminate information
Projects:
Publication: “In Context”:
“In Context”t; is an arts publication intending to deal with theoretical/ contextual issues surrounding the visual arts. The publication will consist of essays, online discussions, reviews and debate. The first issue will be exploring the importance of artists contextualizing their practice and how this informs their work. It is due our at the beginning of next month, further details will be posted.
If you would like to contribute to the magazine please contact- thelibraryproject@googlemail.com.___________________________________________Artist Talks Programme:
This will be in collaboration with Red Wire. It will be a day devoted to talks for artists by artists. The date for the first series of talks has not yet been confirmed. If you are interested in taking part please contact - thelibraryproject@googlemail.com___________________________________________
Independent Art Publication/ Zines Collection:
As part of our literary resource we will house a small library of independent art zines. The zines will be available as a resource at Red-Wire gallery.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are not yet funded and therefore need as much aid in kind as possible. We would greatly appreciate it if you would be kind enough to send us a couple of copies of your publication. By doing so you will be both providing local artists with an invaluable resource and considerably widening your audience.
