The Light Streams formed late 2008 through a series of late night meetings of minds, each member being invited into the fray well into the night; the band then sought to seek a daytime arrangement that worked as well. Towards the end of the year the band went into the studio with Andy Hawkins (Pigeon Detectives/Cribs) and recorded their debut ep, ‘The Lost EP’. .. What followed was a flurry of invites to play festivals this summer alongside such indie high-fliers as The Zutons, Noah & the Whale, Idlewild, Wild Beasts, and Mumford & Sons after just a handful of gigs and requests from all over the country for early copies as word spread. .. Incorporating a varied range of musical influences, ranging from Irish folk to jaunty Beatles-esque psychedelia, from adrenaline-charged punk to melodic balladry, the end result is unmistakeably playful, poppy and laden with catchy hooks. .. Already back in the studio with some great remixes being done by fellow Leeds luminaries, The Light Streams opening is coming soon. The Light Streams formed late 2008 through a series of late night meetings of minds, each member being invited into the fray well into the night; the band then sought to seek a daytime arrangement that worked as well. THIS TIME LAST YEAR WE WERE STRUGGLING HAS A BAND, HAD NO IDEA HOW TO GET MONEY FOR OUR GIGS AND COULD
NOT AFFORD TO PLAY FOR FREE ESPECIALLY GIGS OUT OF TOWN, BUT SINCE TAKING ADVICE FROM THE BAND AND ARTIST UNION THING'S HAVE CERTANLY CHANGED FOR US. WE FILL MOST OF OUR GIGS BY SELLING FLYERS TO COLLEGES UNIVERSITIES AND IN THE TOWN AND CITY CENTRES FOR 20 PENCE A FLYER THIS ENABLES THE PERSON TO GET INTHE GIG FOR £1.50 WHICH THEY PAY ON THE DOOR, WITHOUT THE FLYER WE CHARGE £2.50 FOR ENTRY. IT SEEMS TO BE GOING GREAT, THAT AND OTHER PROMOTIONAL ADVICE FROM THE UNION IS REALLY PAYING OFF FOR US. SO MANY THANKS TO THE UNION

ITS MUCH EASIER FOR US TO PUT INFORMATION OUT TO ALL UNION MEMBERS RATHER THAN INDIVIDUALS.
GIVING YOUR BAND OR YOURSELF A IMAGE COULD INCREASE YOUR FANZONE AND MAKE YOU STAND OUT
FROM OTHER BANDS AND ARTISTS. THROUGH OUT THE HISTORY OF POPULAR MUSIC IMAGERY AS PLAYED
A LARGE PART, THROUGH THE 1960S WITH BANDS LIKE THE PIRATES, THE WHO, THE KINKS AND THE STONES
THROUGH THE 1970S WITH BOWIE, ALICE COOPER AND SO ON THROUGH THE 80S AND 90S. IN MY EXPERIENCE IT WOULD BE A GREAT BENEFIT TO MANY BANDS IF THEY TAKE A IMAGE ON BOARD. AS A P.R TRAVELING UP
AND DOWN THE UK I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF BANDS AND ARTISTS, SOME THAT NEEDED JUST THAT LITTLE
BIT EXTRA TO GET ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS. A EXAMPLE OF THIS WAS A BAND CALLED" THE KINGS MEN"
THE MUSIC THEY PLAYED WAS PRETTY GOOD MOSTLY COVERS, BUT BECAUSE THEY LACKED PERSONALITY
THEY WERE STRUGGLING AND ON THE VERGE OF SPLITTING UP, UNTIL IT WAS SUGGESTED THEY SHOULD
CHANGE THE NAME OF THE BAND TO "THE CAVALIERS" AND GET SOME OUTFITS MADE UP TO FIT THE NAME,
THIS THEY DID, WITH THEIR CAVALIER UNIFORMS, BOOTS AND LARGE HATS SOON HAD THEIR GIGS FILLED TO THE RAFTERS AND EVENTUALLY THE BAND BECAME THE RESIDENT BAND IN A VERY POPULAR NIGHT CLUB IN THE
AREA MAKING GOOD MONEY, WHO WAS THIS GUY WHO RECOMMENDED THIS IMAGE CHANGE FOR THE BAND,
NONE OTHER THAN MYSELF. SO IF YOU DECIDE TO GO DOWN THIS ROAD THINK CAREFULLY ABOUT THE IMAGE YOU INTEND TO DO, PUT IT INTO PRACTICE AND IT SHOULD BRIGHTEN UP YOUR BAND AND GET YOU NOTICED.

IF THERE'S A PUB IN YOUR AREA THAT IS STRUGGLING, HAVE A WORD WITH LANDLORD OR
MANAGER AND SEE IF THERE'S A POSSIBILITY OF TURNING ONE OF THE ROOMS INTO A
MUSIC VENUE. EXPLAN THAT IT WOULD'NT COST THE ESTABLISHMENT ANYTHING
OTHER THAN OBTAINING A MUSIC LIENCE WHICH WOULD BE A SMALL PRICE FOR THE
BREWERY TO PAY IN RETURN FOR A NEW LEASE OF LIFE TO ONE OF THEIR PUBS. THERE WOULD
BE A ENTRANCE FEE ON THE DOOR THAT GOES TO ARTIST OR BAND, WITH THE OWNER
MAKING A GOOD PROFIT FROM THE DRINKS AND SNACKS SOLD. IF YOU FEEL YOU WOULD LIKE
TO GET TOGETHER WITH ANOTHER BAND IN YOUR AREA TO PUT A PLAN IN ACTION ALL THE
