The Likeness of Love is about breaking the barrier--the barrier between young and old, the barrier between colors, between genders, between cultures, between poor and rich.
Our contribution to society involves getting people involved in global outreach, using art and compassion. Photographs of children from underdeveloped countries are turned into hand-drawn/painted portraits created by volunteering artists in the States. These portraits are then sent back to the children at their respective shelters or schools as gifts and gestures of compassion.
History
Launched in 2006, the Likeness of Love is a non-profit organization with little to no focus on financial capabilities of its participants. Any funds required to purchase frames and the pay for shipping are acquired through fundraising and donations by participating students and artists. With it's first project revolving around victims of sex trafficking in Calcutta, India, the project reached out to around 30 children of Apne Aap. The following project which was dedicated to a group of young boys and girls in Sri Lanka whose families and lives have been stricken by an ethnic war. So far, over 60 lives have been touched and we at The Likeness of Love hope that with your help, this number grows exponentially.
