The Listening Room Cafe' was originally founded by Mark Craven in Franklin, TN in 2007. During that same year, Chris Blair was working on a business plan to open a very similar venue for songwriters when he heard about the Franklin location. Chris began to perform his own music in this incredible room and put his plans to open his own place on hold and instead started revising his business plan to reflect what he was envisioning for a future of The Listening Room. He approached Mark in January 2008 to present his ideas and Mark loved it. After spending several months of planning, searching for the right location and growing a great relationship together, Mark and Chris opened The Listening Room Cafe' in downtown Nashville, TN on Sept 11, 2008.
If you have stepped foot in the Franklin location, then you are already familiar with why there has been such a buzz about The Listening Room Cafe' in the last year. You will find a similar feel in the new location along with some exciting changes. For instance, one of the reasons writers love to play at TLR is because of the INCREDIBLE sound quality in the room, the close feeling and comfortable vibe you get when you are there, and the great food you can enjoy while there. Those things are all mirrored at their new location - even the similar artwork such as the guitar paintings by Eric Heatherly! So what is different? The new location is now open for breakfast with an amazing coffee bar and free internet all day. The lunch menu has been expanded to include many more choices. There is a great wine list. And with more than double the space, The Listening Room is now able to still have a small intimate writers round, but also provide a stage for full band showcases!
Mark and Chris are very excited about the future of The Listening Room Cafe' - Nashville, and look forward to seeing you there! Check back often to see pictures and all of our upcoming events! Leave a comment to let us know what you think about the new location, any ideas you might have, or to just say hello!
