About me:

I am a student of the way of Shoshin Ryu Karate Jitsu, Fook Yueng Chuan. Part of the path is learning and teaching the two are intertwined and cannot be separated, in the same way that a pond that only collects becomes stale and soon stinks. I share from the standpoint of tuning into the strengths and weaknesses of the student drawing out strengths and balancing the weaknesses then that persons neural system is maximized. Martial Arts is a way of life not just somthing that you do for the fun of it or because it seams cool. Fook Yueng taught me that all martial arts are good, "All same, Nothing". They are there to help us understand once we understand we dont need them any more and we walk on. It is like walking across a pond on stepping stones and half way across becoming attached to one in particular and staying with it because you dont want to leave it. That is fine I guess but you will never cross the pond that way. I was made an Inheritor by Fook Yueng who was a mentor, teacher, uncle figure to Bruce Lee. That path is teaching me humblness like nothing else has in my life. The path of the master is the path of a servant to those he teaches and shares with.

    Happy Birthday
  • Sep 14 2009 1:19 PM

“If you want a thing bad enough to go out and fight for it,
to work day and night for it,
to give up your time, your peace and your sleep for it…

if all that you dream and scheme is about it,
and life seems useless and worthless without it…

if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan for it
and lose all your terror of the opposition for it…

if you simply go after that thing you want
with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity,
faith, hope and confidence and stern for tenacity…

if neither cold, poverty, famine, nor gout,
sickness nor pain, of body and brain,
can keep you away from the thing that you want…

if dogged and grim you beseech and beset it,
with the help of God, you will get it!”

    Always Aim Higher

    Edmund O'Neill

Always aim higher than you believe you can reach. So often, you'll discover that when your talents are set free by your imagination, you can achieve any goal.

If people offer their help or wisdom as you go through life, accept it gratefully. You can learn much from those who have gone before you. But never be afraid or hesitant to step off the accepted path and head off in your own direction if your heart tells you that it's the right way for you.

Always believe that you will ultimately succeed at whatever you do, and never forget the value of persistence, discipline, and determination.

You are meant to be whatever you dream of becoming.

Hey, Uncle Steve, glad to see your comment! Actually, I found out that gray cod and some black cod is pot fishing instead of longlining. But either way, I'm gettin "geared" up for it. haha. How is Walla Walla? And sorry we weren't able to connect before I left. However, it is very possible that I might be swinging through town sometime in the next couple of weeks since fishing is looking more and more likea non-possibility. Between strikes and the fact that the ramblin rose is more like a shamblin piece of trash.
But I hope that you had a merry christmas and a happy new year! Good luck Uncle Steve!
