The Killer B's
(as in,
roughly chrono-logically speaking)
Buddy Holly,
"Bye Bye Love,"
("Mr.) Blue,"
Brill Building,
"Be My Baby,"
Beach Boys -- and
Big Brother Brian of course,
Beatles,
Bee Gees,
Byrds,
"Blonde On Blonde,"
Badfinger
......basically.
Sounds Like
A Night On The Town,
as opposed to just underground;
A gust of fresh air,
instead of just Being There;
All-Singing
All-Playing
All-Prancing
All The Time.
A yellow orange Checker cab
swirls Uptown thru the midnighter mists.
Doc's in the backseat,
mixing the medicine up in mono
(just as Uncle Phil commands).
A sassy two-stepper on the curb
raises one, flags us down,
and climbs straight on board
as the Summer in the City rises accordingly.
"Hats off to Del,"
Johnny Rhythm cackles over AM
as the K tells us ALL
exactly Where It's At (baby)
to the beat of a peppery twist.
Someone's plain English
may indeed invade in a block or two,
but we can hang more than ten in response
and raise you a swingin' medallion
in the process, Eppy.
Jan Berry Gordy,
Bernard and Manfred Herrmann's Hermits:
It's all just one big ball of vintage long-playing wax by now,
as the silvery fox explains
to the tune of The King inviting the four great pretenders
to sit by his Perugian throne
that hot August night, Spirit of 65
all round us.
but Times ARE changin',
times are indeed changin',
as Brian bulled the Big Daddy cross town
(instead of helping Rhonda
get him outta Gold Star already!)
The many moods of that endless new Batman season
would only lead to freak festivals;
Fug instead of frug I'm afraid,
and soon our wee Sisters three
are left alone
to fight the lone battle.
The battle to bring back The Light and The Lightness
above all.
Fun Fun Fun, Dance Dance Dance,
is all we really wanna do to you.
So help us spread the word if you can.
It's so fine.
It's sunshine.
It's easy!!
All you need is.....
