About me:
When my youngest child was born 10 weeks prematurely, I found there were few books geared for my other young children to show them what was happening to our baby in the NICU. Though there were some books, none had full-color photographs of the inside of an actual NICU, or that showed what a premature baby looks like... so I wrote one.
My new book, The Littlest Sister, documents our youngest child's journey through prematurity, in the hospital NICU.
The goal of the book is to take the mystery out of the NICU for young siblings of a preemie, who may not understand what is happening to their new brother or sister.
The book will also show children who were born prematurely what they might have experienced in their own NICU stay years ago.
The story is told from the perspective of our 3-year-old daughter K.C. Edwards. K.C. tells readers the story of her sister, baby Danika who was born 10 weeks early weighing only 2lb. 7oz. Danika also has Down syndrome, and pared with complications from prematurity, her hospital NICU stay lasted 16 weeks.
