He was such an incredible actor and now he has gone - What a great loss... I feel the same sadness like at a certain point in the movie... You know which one.
Next tuesday (8th of May) at the Filmhuis Mechelen Supadupamultimillionmegaplex: screening of 'The Lives of Others' (original German version)! More info on our MySpace.
To say I left this film with tears in my eyes would be an understatement. My face was wet and I was so immersed in the plot and the emotion surrounding it, I was rooted to my seat until the last of the credits rolled off the screen and a fuzzy Cineworld advert jerked me back into the cinema, April 2007.
This five star film deserves every award it has gained and will gain with a fantastic storyline, intense attention to detail and characters so real you want to walk up to them and hit them, hug them, shout at them, thank them, as the situation dictates.
Words can hardly express the strength and depth of emotion this film creates. All I can say to others is see it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.
I went and saw this film at the curzon screening with the Q+A afterwards...the movie was so well written it gave me goosebumps, so subtle and yet so intense...and the director was so approachable and down to earth, but what I respect the most about him is his will not to underestimate his audience and feed them with intellectual and thought provoking dialogue (eventhough that's what got the film rejected from most production companies in Germany when he was looking for money...) Well Done for sticking to your beliefs and delivering such an inspiring movie. ;-)
