About me:
The Local is an evening of fine live music hosted by Howard Monk. It's an unpretentious affair, and friendly too.

Try your hand at the infamous pop quiz. A whole bottle of whisky can be won.

The Local began downstairs at The Kings Head in Crouch End, and you can catch the original Local here on the 3rd Friday of every month. You can also find us bringing the finest shows to the likes of the Bush Hall, Union Chapel, The Roundhouse, Green Note, The Luminaire, Big Chill House, Paradise Bar, Cecil Sharp House, Gramaphone, The South Bank, and many a festival.

If you have any urgent contact needs with the Local team, for bookings please contact either Howard or Lucy, for anything technical please contactPhil, love team Local x

Check out our we're giving it away free to celebrate our upcomming performance at the Big Chill festival. Want a free ticket to the Big Chill? Think you can make a video for sous-vide? We're about to launch a competition so watch out for it!

Shot By Both Sides heads to the frozen hinterland that is North London on Tuesday April 29th, with a Spektakular FREE Soireé at Islington's OLD QUEENS HEAD - expect degeneracy and bloodlust!

Fanzine handout, cakes, poetry, stories, a gritty psych/freakout jazz/fucked-pop/post-punk soundtrack, and some disturbingly delightful live sets from TOM HATRED, FILTHY PEDRO & more...

Look how much fun this will be.......................

Shortly before they release their second record 'The Midnight Organ Flight', the wonderful Frightened Rabbit bless York with a one off Basement Bar show. Signed to Fat Cat, home to Sigur Ros, Mum and Animal Collective their this new album has been recorded by Peter Katis (Interpol, Mercury Rev) and may send them off to much dizzier heights. Fresh from three shows at SXSW.

Oxford Collapse are from New York, signed to Sub Pop and will be spending most of April supporting We Are Scientists on somewhat larger stages than The Basement! A surprise and a treat to have them in York. Kinda indie pop, kinda power pop, kinda poppy pop(?!) Oxford Collapse are a sun-drenched delight.

Missing Kids and Burial In The Sky (featuring Lou from Red Trees and Mike from The Static Waves) support.

Ticket purchase recommended. 0871 704 2054 or www. picturehouses. co. uk.
