All original music, no matter the genre, excepting the so called original bands that just copy the current style, and of course Record Company produced artists, such as those from Pop Idol etc.. Only real innovators of new songs, sounds, arrangements and productions grab our ears and have the tingle factor.
Other influences inlcude: Led Zeppelin, Nivarna, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Hawkwind, Beatles (later period), Rolling Stones pre 1980, Pink Floyd, Return to Forever, The Who, Janis Joplin, Mozart, Wagner, Kate Bush, P. J. Harvey, Patti Smith, The Sex Pistols, Chain, Masters Apprentices, Peter Gabriel, Genesis (without Phil Collins), Uriah Heep, Early Rod Stewart and the Faces and many other innovators who have the talent and ability to take something old, new, borrowed and blue and turn it into an original work of musical art.
Current bands that we like are Powderfinger, Sunnflower, Silverchair, Elephant Mojo, The Young Moderns to name a few.
Sounds Like
The Locked Soul sound like nothing else that has come across my desk before .... aside from some fantastic songs, (and what one would perceive as a longetivity that many artists today desire) they have what all great bands possess, their own unique sound, carefully guarded and secured, by a glossamer web of strangeness and oddity. The sound that is emitted, can only be described as fresh, ionized, original rock, that posseses a psychedlic or perhaps even a psychotic flavour at times.

** THE INTERVIEW **
Jez: How did you get your name: “The Locked Soul” ?
Cris: Basically, we were arrested while gigging in Malaysia on the “Lick my Love Pump” tour, for having long hair and associating with aliens from the Draco solar system. Some shady character in the cell next to us made the remark that we were the weirdest bunch of locked up soul’s he’d ever seen. The name kind of stuck from there. We just dropped the “up” bit…and the plural.
Jez: How did the band come together?
Stan: All the members had either played together before or had been in other successful bands, playing around the traps for many years. So it was definitely the aliens from Dracos who suggested that we should leave our retrospective bands to form a group that would be popular on Dracos. I don’t think they gave much thought to the commercial aspects of marketing us on planet earth.
Jez: What can fans expect from your shows?
Pat: There’s more amps, tramps and vamps than Kings Cross on New Years Eve! Anything goes, from Dracula to transvestite dwarfs in floral one piece cotton frocks! Well at least they'll get plenty of colour...
Jez: How would you sum up the band and it’s objectives?
Stan: Well, already being the number one band on Dracos, we were determined to prove that ugly people can also make it to the top here.
Jez: How do you describe your music?
Pax: A cross between the London Philharmonic and the Sex Pistols. Sweet and Sweeter, you choose.
Jez: What is the bands future plans?
Cris: To loose our virginity, have some fun and get a stiffy or two.
Jez: Tell us about you new album “Glass Machine”?
Pat: Well its 14 songs that are played on a machine. Most people have a plastic one, but we have a glass one…sort of a womb with a view.
Jez: What’s the group's most popular song?
Cris: Heroin…. during an earlier stint in the big house for borrowing Telstra’s payroll one sunny afternoon, Pat wrote the song inspired by the syringe like shape of the solitary confinement block. It has sort of become an anthem for the band.
Jez: Where can people see you play?
Pax: All over the world and known galaxy really ... with our Draconian molecular transporter devices, we are likely to pop up anywhere. An adventure back to the UK and Europe next year seems a likely probablility, though which quantum dimension we decide to tour, is still a thing of great debate.

Australian 4 piece rock band, The Locked Soul, embody 'the Spirit of Original Rock' at it's best. Commercially Edged, Psychedelic Rock, with lots of Spirit..
Formed in Brisbane Australia, 'Locked Soul' quickly established themselves as a new force in the original music scene. Originally signed to Oracle Records, their first Album "Locked Soul" and their EP "Fate" were readily accepted in the German, Dutch and European markets.
Following the interest in Europe, a whirlwind tour manifested itself. It was during this time that many of the songs for the 'Glass Machine' album were composed.
Both Pat and Pax are prolific songwriters and have to their credit 500+ well crafted original songs between them. The more interesting of these songs, form the backbone from which the collective band, manifests 'The Locked Soul's distinctive sound.

The band have no real restrictions or limitations to their songwriting or musical abilities. On their album, "The Inner Circle", the magic of Hayter and Riley weave a spell that colours your mind with images from start to finish. Strings, Brass and Woodwind are the sweet sweet icing on a cake of guitars, keys, drums and emotive vocals. Players from both the QLD Symphony and the QLD Youth Orchestra feature on the album
The band are currently working on their 4th album "Atomic Blonde" and plan to have the recording completed later in 2008 followed by a 6 week tour of Denmark & Germany.
