   The Loft Literary Center's Blurbs
About me:
Founded in 1974 in a loft above a Minneapolis bookstore, the Loft is now the nation's largest and most comprehensive literary center, offering programs and services for readers and writers. Whatever forms of reading and writing you are drawn to, there's something for you at the Loft. Take a creative writing class. Attend a special presentation by a favorite Minnesota writer. Enter a writing competition or attend a reading. You are invited to become involved in the Loft's unique community and to join others who engage in a reading and writing life.

The mission of the Loft is to support the artistic development of writers, to foster a writing community, and to build and audience for literature.

We are located on the second floor of the Open Book building at 1011 Washington Avenue South in downtown Minneapolis. Open Book is also home to Minnesota Center for Book Arts, Milkweed Editions, Rosalux Gallery and The Coffee Gallery.

For more information visit loft.org.

Who I'd like to meet:
You love literature. Perhaps you're just beginning to write some poems, or perhaps you've had several books of fiction published. Maybe you're working on a manuscript for your memoir, or maybe you're interested in learning more about some of the authors you admire. Perhaps you'd like to gain experience and hone your craft by working with an established mentor. Maybe you'd just like to find a place to gather with others who love to read and write.

Would you like to help create a play about the transition from 8th grade to High School? The Perpich Center for Arts Education is requesting personal writings from young women & men, ages eleven to seventeen, about their experiences with the transition from middle school to high school.

The Quatrefoil Library is planning to hold an event of spoken word performances on Sunday, March 29 from 3-5pm to celebrate Women's History Month. We are looking for local authors, poets, historians, feminists, activists and other members of our community to share and celebrate the experiences of women in the Twin Cities. While we are interested in documenting queer experiences, we invite all women to participate in this event by attending and performing. We are planning to have an open mic, but would also like to have several scheduled performances for the event. If you have questions, or are interested in being scheduled to perform, please contact Anne Johnson at quatrefoillibrary@gmail.com. Please contact us by March 20 if you are interested in performing.

Showin' love to your page and to show my new words, much love <3
"To be loved"
I want to be love by many
To get the acceptance and respect that I deserve
I have plenty of love for you
How come you still don't see me?
What does it take
To be love by you
What can I say?
What can I do?
I'm just a writer with a passion
A poet
Trying to make it
To show you how things can be
To show you what I've been through
It's so hard being me
All I want to do is to show you love
How love can truly be
To be love by you is necessary
To have that support to achieve fame and success
To live the rest of my life to be merry
