The Loggerheads is like nowhere else! This significant and famous pub is the last surviving venue in the Narrow Marsh area of Nottingham which has a very great age and must have existed for centuries before its debut into history in 1315. The area and the pub have an unimaginable history and there are many stories to be told of the frivolities that have occurred in this extremely interesting relic of the past. The Loggerheads was at the heart of Narrow Marsh and has attracted many characters over the years including the romantic Dick Turpin and other feared highwaymen of the time whose ghosts still haunt the grounds. Narrow Marsh was the natural name of the thoroughfare situated between the river Leen and the foot of St. Mary's cliff which is still visible on Cliff Road.
Today, The Loggerheads reveals a new story. We welcome everyone to come and explore this venue and take pleasure in experiencing everything we have on offer, from past to present, at ‘Nottingham’s Best Kept Secret’.
You will find a choice of different areas within the venue to relax, eat, drink, dance or just venture down to the caves. We have capacity for parties and meetings and can prepare food for both if pre-booked. We present the best live music, djs, performances, comedy and artwork around and also want to continually unmask unnoticed talent. Every week we put together a variety of entertaining events to create a calendar of distinctive and enjoyable occasions.
Additionally, there is always a comfortable night's sleep to be had in one of our five accommodating bedrooms found on the second floor of this historic Inn. With single, twin and dorm rooms available, we welcome everyone, whether working, travelling or simply visiting for a night or few. Shower, w.c. and kitchen facilities available as well as TV, hot drinks and a wireless internet network. Each room has its own wash basin and the best thing of all is that there is a bar and music venue just downstairs.
Situated on the edge of the Lace Market the Nottingham train station is approximately 3 minutes walk away with the Broadmarsh bus station and shopping centre found at the end of the road.
The Loggerheads is the best located and most affordable and friendly Inn within the City of Nottingham. We welcome your stay!

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
Excuse the liberty, but I thought you might like to know of an evening of dark postpunk and new wave music, at The Salutation Inn, Hounds Gate, Nottingham on Thursday 29th October.
