My influences are very diverse, as i listen to music almost compulsively. Here's a very partial list:
Orchid, Melt-Banana, My Bloody Valentine, Lovesliescrushing, Venetian Snares, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Jerome's Dream, the Assisstant, Boris, Coil, Usurp Synapse, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, James Chance and the Contortions, John Zorn, Cecil Taylor, Gregor Samsa, City of Caterpillar, the Ecstasy of Saint Theresa, Ride, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Sonic Youth, Albert Ayler, Government Alpha, Please Inform the Captain this is a Hijack, Ryoji Ikeda, Otomo Yoshide, Merzbow, Miss Kittin and the Hacker, American Nightmare, Atheist, Muslimgauze, I Would Set Myself on Fire for You, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Ornette Coleman, Cleaner, Joy Division, Skullflower, Man is the Bastard, East-West Blast Test, and so many others.
Like i said, a very partial list. Basically anyone who i've heard who has tried to make creative, passionate, and interesting music has influenced me in some way or another. So where's the cLOUDDEAD influence show, hm? Well...maybe on a future release...
Asami Yamazaki was long a concept in my head, that evolved through several stages. Probably the earliest incarnation was before i was even working with a drummer, the idea was just guitar and drums, minimalist no-wave-influenced hardcore. Then i'm not quite sure what happened to my drummer, i think he might've died or something.
Then it was just going to be me, my guitar, a drum machine, and repeating samples, like more industrial influenced, but still firmly within the realm of chaotic hardcore. And then the idea was shoegazing-influenced guitar, white noise instead of drum beats, glitchy rhythms, and many other various influences outside of the spectrum of punk rock.
And now i don't play guitar much anymore, preferring to scream as loud as i can, sometimes playing with some toy keyboards and also using a sampler, some fx pedals, a Kaoss pad and an old sampler. Much of my musical production is done completely on the computer now. The old ideas are still here, industrial influences and minimalism and noise, but it's also gone beyond those. Fusing the chaos of drum breaks splattered every which way, gross circuit-bent sounds, mashed-up samples, esoteric time signatures and oodles of intensity, i feel like i have had some success in making forward-thinking electronic screamo. But i also make more traditional noise, buffer-abusive pretty sounds, and now and again, a speedcore track!
I'm trying to make somethig i want to listen to. So far, so good. Anyone else who likes it is a great bonus.
So who is asami yamazaki? Well, i certainly am not, because she's a girl and i am definitely male. She's a character, a concept. Asami Yamazaki is the lonliest girl in Tokyo, and as lonely as that city is, i think that would put her high in the running for the lonliest girl worldwide.
we're doing to shows, on September 11th we're playing @ studio B789 Rollinsford NH, after that we will be heading to th Big Easy in Portland, ME. We are selling tickets for both events right now. It'll be a good time, and we're willing to go the extra mile to get tickets into your hands. Please message us if you are intersted in either or both of the shows.
Having released a couple of tuneful albums with theAudiologist and Soni Jimm since my last LP, "Fear of Mathematics", Section 27 Netlabel brings you "Wrpdata”, containing 14 tracks full of chunky, breathy and some would even say pleasantly broken breaks, some good-time-mind-fuck glitch, a few (thankfully blissful) orchestrated mixes featuring the talents of Pinklogik and theAudiologist (also acting as co-producer on this release) respectively, and ends sweetly with some beautiful spoken word poetry by the lovely aussie Cindel Waddington.
A delight on the sensory organs from start to finish, "Wrpdata" is available now for *free* download. Licensed by Creative Commons.
