For the last two years, these men have been rocking the very foundation of underground radio with their unique blend of wholesome alternative programming and eccentric commentary. Sharing the spotlight are none other than Mike and Chris, also known as "Mikey B and Spanky G", Concordia University's Golden boys of internet radio.
You might say the Lonesome Strangers began on a dreary autumn day in nineteen dickety-five, when Mike's girlfriend broke up with him. On that day, he took his faithful walkman down to the lake, and cried himself to utter insanity as he listened to his worn out Smashing Pumpkins Mixtape.
All of a sudden, a man on a Bike, with a 40oz can of Wildcat in one hand came speeding down the street. As he headed to the water, he jammed on the breaks and went flying into the unsuspecting lake dweller. This is where it all began...
The daredevil on this "suicycle" proved to be Spanky G, a young man who'd just gone on a "alcohol-only diet" due to his cheating ex-girlfriend. The two young men shared stories of their failed relationships and bonded immediately through their love of Music, School girls and Bill Cosby. From this day on, they decided to combine their collective powers (which had yet to be determined) and formed an allegence to rid the world of world hunger, pretentious pseudo-intellectuals and Leafs fans.
Now, in 2006, one is a Professional music-ologist, the other is a filmmaking visionnary. Together, they are the LONESOME STRANGERS, and you'll be able to hear them rocking out every wednesday from 4-6pm starting in February, only on www.CJLO.com.
