    The Lost Banditoz – delicious ska from Stuttgart since 1998 Kurzbeschreibung (deutsch/german): Ist es ein Vogel? Ist es ein Flugzeug? Oder eher: ist es Two Tone? Oder ist es "traditional"? Es ist recht einfach: es ist Ska. Gespielt von The Lost Banditoz, einer Truppe Musiker Stuttgarts, deren Herz für den Offbeat des Skas schlägt. Wenn's doch ein Schublädchen sein soll – dann probieren wir's mal mit "delicious Ska" – bedeutet: eine Mischung aus traditionellem und modernerem Ska mit einem Bisschen Two Tone, angejazzten Bläserarrangements, klassische Jamaica-Beats – kombiniert mit Texten, die von den Hochs und Tiefs des Alltags und der Liebe zur Musik und Nachtleben erzählen. The Lost Banditoz fanden sich 1998 in Stuttgart zusammen. Mit den Jahren änderte sich die Besetzung hier und da, was zur heutigen siebenköpfigen Band mit dreistimmigem Bläsersatz geführt hat. Dem glorreichen Pfad des Offbeatsounds folgend, teilten The Lost Banditoz die Bühnen und Liebe zur jamaikanischen Musik mit solchen Bands, wie zum Beispiel The Skatalites, Mr. Review, Spicy Roots und Two Tone Club. Bis dato haben die Banditen drei Alben geschaffen (The Spirit of 69 Records) und nehmen aktuell ihr viertes Meisterstück auf. Or more like: Is it Two Tone? Or is it "Traditional"? Well, let's simply put it like that: it is Ska, played by The Lost Banditoz, a bunch of Stuttgart-based musicians with their heart beating in tune with Ska's off-beat. If you are looking for a more detailed label though - try "delicious Ska" - a blend of traditional and modern Ska with a hint of Two Tone; Jazz influenced brass arrangements mixed with traditional Jamaica-Beats and combined with lyrics that cover the ups and downs of everyday life and the love of music and booze. The Lost Banditoz were found in Stuttgart in the year 1998. Over the years, the original line up changed, leading to today's band of seven musicians, including a 3-set brass section. Following the glorious path of off-beat sounds, The Lost Banditoz shared the stage with many other bands sharing the love of Jamaican music as e.g. The Skatalites, Mr. Review, Spicy Roots and Two Tone Club. As to date - The Lost Banditoz have three albums (The Spirit of 69 Records) on the market and are currently in the process of recording their fourth master piece.     ..Rezension vom ..BigShot Fanzine zur LP "Uppercut": "Nach langem Warten meldet das ehemals Augsburger Label Spirit of 69 Records sich nun zurück. Und die Lost Banditoz aus Stuttgart begeistern! Hier sind offensichtlich Könner am Werk, denn so reif und erwachsen klingt 3rd wave Ska leider viel zu selten. Angenehm, wenn eine Band mangelndes Können nicht mit Tempo wettmachen muss, wie das ja so oft bei Ska Revival Bands der Fall ist. Auch der Gesang ist wirklich sehr angenehm. Die 12 Tracks bewegen sich zwischen Ska und Rock Steady und sind ausnahmslos sehr gut. Wer auf Slackers oder Shots in the dark steht, sollte hier ohne Zögern zugreifen. Einziger Kritikpunkt: der doofe Name. Weiß doch jeder, dass man heutzutage nur Erfolg hat, wenn man mindestens >>Aggrobossonians<< heißt und >>brutal, dirty, aggro boss regay<< spielt, wie auch immer sich das anhört.", (Melodies of War für das Big Shot Fanzine) - and nothing more to say (Spirit of 69 Records crew) ########################################################################################################################## ..Rezension von www.ska-times.de zur LP "Bar": "Hier eine deutsche Band die sich ueberwiegend den jamaikanischen Klaengen der fruehen 60er gewidmet haben. Von traditionellen Ska, Rock Steady ueber Early Reggae zu uptempo Ska mit zahlreichen Elementen und Solos versehen, haben die Jungs alles eingepackt was verwoehnte Ohren so brauchen. Und so kann ich heute mit Freude das 2. Album "Bar" von Lost Banditoz aus Stuttgart vorstellen. Aufwendig.. ausgefeilte Arrangements fuellen das neue Album, die in 12 Tracks zu einem 43minuetigen feinen Sound-Mix verarbeitet wurden. Im Hintergrund blubbert stets ein schoener walking Bass. Teilweise blubbert auch eine Orgel den Offbeat und andere Sachen, die hier wohl als Gast waehrend der Aufnahme zum Einsatz kam. Eine samtweiche angenehme Stimme zeichnet den Saenger aus, welcher gleichzeitig fuer den Offbeat und genialen Solos auf der Gitarre sorgt. Das Geblaese der Banditen bildet ein Tenor Saxophone und Trompete die ihr Hand(Mund)werk verstehen. Welches sehr satt und sauber auch sehr gut ohne Posaune rueberkommt. Keine leichte Aufgabe hat der Drummer welcher sich den staendig wechselnden Rhythmen innerhalb der songs immer wieder neue patterns aus den Aermel schuettelt. Das Schlusslicht der CD ist "Bouncing.. Battle Beat" und zaehlt neben "Fire", "Straight Ahead" , "The Godfather", "The Only One", einschliesslich dem Titelsong "Bar" zu meinen persoenlichen Favoriten.
