The beat’s swingin’, the melodies are singin’, and the style is stingin’. It is the fabulous Lounge Leader performing the great American songbook with a flair and panache unheard since 1945. The band’s core is the boy-girl duo up front. Julie DeLano sings smoky vocal interpretations as Sam Lazzara accompanies playing a 1939 Deagan Imperial vibraphone. Complimented by upright bass, drums and trumpet; the Lounge Leader’s period sound must be heard to be believed. Julie and Sam have been making music in New York City individually for fifteen years. They have played at all of the finest venues including Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Waldorf Astoria and together they work cabaret rooms and fine restaurants throughout the city. Most recently they enjoy performing as the house band at their home away from home, the dynamic restaurant/art gallery Superfine in DUMBO, Brooklyn. From the initial downbeat the Lounge Leader transform this hip waterfront destination into a speakeasy worthy of a Raymond Chandler novel. Come hear the Lounge Leader at their next engagement.
