John Scott and Alan Mangan formed The MacNificents a few years ago over a couple pints at a concert by one of their favorite bands. Friends for over 10 years they decided to try something different, not quite traditional Celtic, but not quite Folk, and not quite Rock. They didn’t want to limit themselves to a label, but they shared a passion for music in general and wanted to bring that to the stage!
John Scott was a co founder of the Traditional Celtic group Clandeboye Bound. They toured extensively throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada. Alan Mangan was a co founder of 2 of the biggest Celtic Bands to come out of Southwestern Ontario. First as a Member of The Gurriers, The Original Celtic Rock Band. Then with The Caution Donkey’s. The Caution Donkey’s performed throughout Canada, played many prestigious Festivals including The Chicago Celtic Festival and The Home County Folk Festival, as well as were the Official Alexander Keith’s Band for many years.
Ryan Buckley has recently joined John and Alan as lead guitarist and an additional vocalist. Ryan’s love for music, as well as talent brought the three together. Ryan previously was a guitarist and songwriter for the Popular Indie group The Ashgrove. The Ashgrove toured extensively throughout Canada, and their music was featured on such TV shows as Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five.
The MacNificents have performed thoughout Ontario and Eastern Canada sharing the stage with great performers such as John McDermott, Enter The Haggis, The Mahones, and the list goes on. John’s songwriting on their debut record Finnbar’s Wake features catchy melodies and span topics from relationships to 9/11. However the real magic happens when they’re live on stage. The MacNificents are a live band who love performing whether it be for 50 or 5000 people, their love for music is evident when you catch their strong live show! So sit back, grab a pint and enjoy the show!

Hey Ya'll ... I guess we had a little "myspace" hiccup with someone hacking the site an doing some re-arranging and sending out some emails. Thankfully no real damage or nasty emails. It did however bring to our attention, that, while myspace had us locked down trying to track the culprits, we had no way to contact most of you to let you know what was going on! Could you all please take a moment click the link below, go by the Main site and join the email list on the main page. While you are there you can check out the whole cd as well as another new song and as always please leave a comment. We love them ... Really!.. If you could do this I would greatly appreciate it. Then if there is another myspace hiccup, we can stay in touch an let you know whats going on!
