1983-Formed from the ashes of Bournemouth punk band 'The Demented' [Martin,Dave,Phil],who rehearsed but never gigged-they teamed up with guitarist Ash who had just left New Forest band 'Idiom Tribe',and together with two new vocalists Mark and Jo [Martins' sister],they became Mad Are Sane.An Anarchopolitical band, they recorded the 'Reality' 7 track demo tape at Arnys Shack on October 3rd 1983 which was released on the Inept label ran by Butcher drummer Rob Banks. The track 'Animal Crimes' was released on the Mortarhate label, their first compilation album, 'Who?What? Why?When?Where?' [Mort 6].
This definative line-up of the band only played a handful of gigs, one in Wareham [with Shock To The System] and a couple in Bournemouth with the likes of Amebix,Self Abuse and Admass.Martin and Jo soon left [although they did return to a much changed band a couple of years later] and Shaun played drums for a couple of gigs and Andrew 'Spoons' Spooner also played guitar - a new song called 'Feel the Pain' was played but never recorded.
The track 'Animal Crimes' has been released on several other Mortarhate compilations-'We Won't Take No More' [Mort CD150],'This Is The ALF' [Mort CD90],a cd reissue of the 'Who?What? Why?When?Where?' [Mort CD4] and a vinyl re-issue on the Italian label 'Get Back' [Get97] in 2002.
Around early 1985 a new version of the band formed by Martin and Phil from the original line-up along with Tony from Confession of Sin on Vocals,Seamus from The Thing on Guitar and Andy from Self Abuse on Bass played a squat gig in Cotlands Road in Bournemouth.
Phil then left,Jo rejoined,Andy switched to second guitar and were joined by Graham on bass [also from The Thing] for a gig with Here and Now at Bournemouth Town Hall.
The very last line up of Martin-Drums,Tony-Vocals,Seamus-Guitar/Vocals and Graham-Bass,gigged around Bournemouth and recorded a demo under the name The Mad Are Sane sometime in 1986,although it appears to be lost!
Hopefully, sometime soon, there will be a 7" vinyl ep re-release of the 'Reality' tape.

On April 1st, we'll show the G20 what meltdown means.
Lost your home? Lost your job? Lost your pension? This party is for you!
Capitalism has been heating up our world for years, melting the icecaps, burning up the rainforests, pushing the planet to tipping point. Now we're going to put the heat on them. At the London Summit , the G20 ministers are trying to get away with the biggest April Fools trick of all time. Their tax-dodging, bonus-guzzling, pension-pinching, unregulated free market world's in meltdown, and those fools think we're going to bail them out. They've gotta be joking!
