The Mad Maggies are a group of crazed musicians from the SF Bay Area who play hard driving music that's world-inspired with a tad of trad. Their mostly original, eclectic melange of tunes zigzag across the muscial map touching on Ska, Polka, Klezmer, Celtic, Eastern European Gypsy, Zydeco, Surf...

Our tune "Sleepy Maggie" (free download) was featured in the pilot of the dramatic TV series "The Black Donnellys." The pilot, directed by Paul Haggis, premiered on NBC in the US and Canada on 2/26/2007. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled before finishing out it's 13 episode run because of "bad" ratings. Too bad, because it's actually a very smart story. "Smart story," aye, there's the rub! However, TBD was picked up by HDNet and all 13 episodes aired this past summer.
Here's the clip with our tune from the pilot:

Just hooked up the iSound player so it's going to live here for the moment. Enjoy the tunes!
Hey guys! Sorry I had to miss you when you played here in Cloverdale the other day. There are only two excuses for me missing your show; either the hospital or jail.
Unfortunately, I wasn't in the hospital. OOPS!
The mandolin playing is progressing nicely. I'm having a blast with it. See ya at Ruth's later this year. :)
Cool! Otherwise I'll have to jump up onstage to play Sleepy Maggie with my bodhran to replace the missing Toms. (yeah right) LOL Take care. Luv you guys.

Thanks for the add. I really enjoyed playing at The Last Day Saloon with you guys and gals. You are a class act band of people and made the night fun. Thanks for the support of Phatty!
MM You guys almost never play in SF. Is the paying gigs only in the North and East bay? If so don't tell us or anybody else, or we will try to horn in on your action. If you ever do play San Francisco again, and need an opening act, give us a call. Thanks for the add. XXOO Go Van Gogh
Your music is wonderful. Cal's Waltz is so lovely it's like getting a soul kiss through the ears and holy makarena you sure know how to make those instruments sing. Even your photo is great. I feel like I am seeing for the first time what a real live 7 faceted jewel really looks and sounds and feels like. You make me glad I have eyes and ears to see and hear ya, feet and hiney to jiggy boom boom and stomp, and fingers to write and thank ya for inspiring me so. Yeppers and Peppers, I think I love ya (and I ain't even a member of The Partridge Family). Maggies... Why it's a miracle I tell ya! But whatever you do, don't tell my guy I said that cuz usually he just inspires me to scream. haha :D
