The Magazines were formed in 2005. Tom and Leif assembled old friends, neighbors, acquaintances and lovers in a Pasadena rehearsal studio for the express purpose of making some beautiful noise. The end result is the Magazines, a stronger, faster, shinier, more fuel-efficient melody-making machine.
The four members of the Magazines are more or less veterans of L.A.s music scene. Tom, formerly of Beachwood Sparks and Arlo, heads up the group with soaring lead vocals and searing guitar. Leif Bunting (Zen Cowboys, Holliston Stops) throws down his signature smoking bass grooves for you to shake your booty to, while Steve McClintic (Red Delicious,Big Violin, Vesuviasonic, The Last American Buffalo, Blue Whale Recording) plays the skins like hes making love to them. Lastly but not leastly, Sara Wallace (Starblind, Red Delicious) shakes the tambourine and adds her smoky voice to the sauce. Its kind of like a big, delicious musical barbecue. You almost want to lick your fingers; it's so sticky and good.
