Formed in the winter of 2005, The Magic Bullet Band has it's own special blend of country, pop. blues and psychedelic rock music. All three members are working musicians, writers and teachers with ongoing commitments to other artists and projects.
The band has played rare but memorable shows mainly in and around Brighton in venues including the Joogleberry Theatre, Concord 2, Barfly, Old Market and the Hanbury Ballrooms. In 2006 they toured the UK with Kula Shaker, performing to rapturous applause and positive feedback in every city, managing to sell out hundreds of home made cds – running out after just 3 shows…
Summer of 2007 saw the beginning of a recording partnership with Mark ‘Duck’ Blackwell (Straw/The Jeevas/Bucky) aimed at getting the ‘Magic’ sound down on tape and producing some raw and honest tunes, a selection of which can be heard here on myspace.
The Magic Bullet Band takes the honesty and spirit of 1970s country-rock music and brings it forward to a new and spellbound audience. Their songs are so catchy it hurts.
Citing influences ranging from Tom Petty to Bill Withers to Midlake, they mainly want to play music that makes you happy, makes you want to sing along and makes you want to tap your feet – an over simplified description but none-the-less true and to the point!
But don’t take my word for it. See and hear for yourself.
