The Main Street Gospel are the ambassadors of the new hippie revolution. They draw from psychedelic and classic rock influences like a crackling first toke and the resulting exhale is the dense, swirling sound of a new classic rock and roll.
Founding members Barry Dean (vocals, guitar) and Tito (bass) spent their early years surrounded by music. Tito's mother played piano daily and his family would spend the weekends driving the back roads of rural Michigan, singing along with his father to Bob Dylan, Hank Williams and CSNY.
Barry was influenced by his grandfather who taught him to play guitar from as early an age as Barry can remember in his home where guitars were always about. His Grandfather was a recording & touring guitarist for the georgia crackers and Roy Rogers' band, The Sons of the Pioneers. Music was a huge part of his grandfather's life and thus Barry came by his own passion for music and guitar playing honestly. Influenced later on by The Byrds, Neil Young, and The Rolling Stones.
Barry and Tito formed the band together in 2005, brought in Adam Scoppa on Drums and they now play shows in the midwest with similar-minded friends in bands such as Buffalo Killers, Hopewell and Dead Meadow.
from the roots of columbus rock is born a new breed of honky tonk. the ashes have blown away to reveal a dirty, beautiful sensation, straight from the basement. you are going to eat dirt, heart and soul... -lara yazvac
