The Main Street Mystics were formed by guitarist John Healy and saxaphonist Randy Bucksner. Though both from the Philadelphia area they met and are based in Lancaster, Pa. Their influences are diverse and range from Django and Stan Getz to Pat Methany and Guided by Voices. With a set list that is a combination of their version of Jazz standards along with original material they collaborate on, the Mystics traverse the boundary between instrumental combo and singer-songwriter expression. Now, with the addition of Vincent Coratello on bass, their music is supported by Phat Funk and R&B grooves. Vince, an accomplished veteran of the music wars, has fought on the battle fields of NYC & Vegas and has now made his home in Pa. John Hickey who was born in Ireland and raised in The Bronx, NY, where the Afro-Cuban sounds of Tito Puente, Willie Colon and Dizzy Gillespie, inspired him to pursue drumming and percussion.
Thanks for the kind words, Randy. It was cool chatting with you afterwards. I'm looking forward to checking out your stuff and hearing some Clarence/Leroi Moore sax rock! Stay cool. j.d.
