THIS PAGE IS MEANT TO HOST THE MUSIC OF ATLANTA'S "THE MANDRAKE THEORY", WHO DISBANDED IN DECEMBER 2007. THE EX-MEMBERS WILL PERIODICALLY CHECK THIS PAGE, AND SIDE PROJECTS WILL BE ANNOUNCED HERE! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Having found their niche in Atlanta's rich music scene, The Mandrake Theory has successfully created an original rock sound that has turned thousands of heads and gained many fans. With a relentless live show that never lets a crowd down, The Mandrake Theory is quickly gaining attention as one of Atlanta's most promising up-and-coming rock acts.
Founding members Ryan Yunker and David Ljung began the band in early 2002 and helped mold it into what it has become today. Bassist Ross Arney was the next to join, followed by drummer Logan Kirsten. They soon unintentionally created a powerful friendship and bond that was the driving force behind helping them survive certain changes and events that would otherwise destroy most other bands. Considering themselves to have been given a second chance, they are taking nothing for granted and working to pursue the goals that drove them to play music in the beginning.
Frontwoman Candice Vermillion found a place in the band as they searched far and wide for the perfect vocalist after going through many previous singers. Bringing to the table a powerful soaring voice as well as a chilling scream that none soon forget, she quickly became the missing link to the band's sound.
From selling out Atlanta-area venues to rocking national airwaves, this young band is only on the rise. They are each confident that this is only the beginning, and their determination to succeed will prove it. Their diverse musical background helps to bring so much variety into the music they write. They have experiences from classical ensembles to jazz bands to metal bands. Influences range from nearly every musical genre.
Armed with intricate music, extremely marketable melodies, and very daring ideas, they are also defined by their outlook on the music industry, and what bands should be like to one another. They are all strong believers in the fact that musicians should coexist to help each other, pick each other up, and benefit from each other, not put each other down. Also armed with the weapon of being young, this band has been labeled by many as one to watch in the near future. The Mandrake Theory's songwriting continues to be a strength of the group, and is constantly improving. In the words of Billy Terrell (legendary producer for Paul McCartney, Frankie Avalon, Pat Benatar, Blood Sweat & Tears, & many more), The Mandrake Theory "doesn't need to be produced. It needs to be captured." And they were partly captured with the recording of a 3-song demo released in November 2006, recorded & mixed in part with Virtuo Studios and the band's own small home studio. That demo has reached the ears of many people in just a few short months.
Many people have asked, "What is the mandrake theory?" Simply put, it is an evolutional theory about the regeneration and evolution of human life. This band is a rapidly evolving entity in itself. They are constantly growing and evolving as a band as well as individuals. The Mandrake Theory is a group striving to be none other than themselves, and encourages individuality in many ways.
Currently, The Mandrake Theory is promoting themselves to anyone and everyone that they can, playing shows at top venues, and are gathering quite a following of dedicated and loyal fans of whom the band is very fond of and works to maintain a close connection with. They use a grassroots-approach, holding those who got them to where they are today very dear and always giving back to the fans and community in any way they possibly can. Having worked with various Atlanta-based charity organizations, they have helped to raise money for various charities in the Atlanta area, as well as organizing their own benefit shows for other causes. Ultimately, these five are trying to get to that "next level" in their industry. Optimistically looking forward to what the future will bring, they will not let up or let down. This quintet remains determined and will continue to turn heads, gain fans, and push through anything in order to reach their dreams and bring their music - and message - to as many people that they possibly can.
