Chris and Geno met late last summer while Geno was hosting a local Open Mike Night. After hearing Chris perform Geno nagged Chris into letting him be his lead guitarist. Chris showed up every week to perform at Geno's Open Mike Night and they forged the beginnings of The Man In Black Band by turning the open mike night into their weekly rehearsal session much to the chagrin of certain local denizens who would much rather hear heavy metal music. At one point the Bar Owner commented that "Johnny Cash is not bringing in the cash" No matter, Chris and Geno got in a lot of practice and enjoyed themselves immensely.
Geno was subsequently "let go" from his Open Mike Night gig due to lack of new customers. He was replaced by several decks of cards.
On March 8th, 2007 Chris lost his right leg in a motorcycle accident but despite this major setback The Man In Black Band has never missed a gig.
Before the MAN in BLACK could reunite with Geno at his Prime Time open mic with one leg, crutches, and a guitar, Jimmy the owner fired Geno (can you get severance pay for having worked for free) and the open mic was no more. No surprise to those of us in the inner circle, rumors later surfaced that Geno’s former boss may be in the Witness Protection Program and may, in fact, be Principal Ed Rooney, from the movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, having escaped the lunacy of Hollywood for a quiet life in Thomaston, CT.
