The Manoz parted company in February 2006 - It's very unlikely we will reform as we're all concentrating on our own seperate futures. I set up this page to record our achievements. Below is our crew biog as of 2005. ---- MEVI
'The Manoz are a hip hop crew from Essex, UK. The current line up consists of Mista Quiz (producer, vocalz), Mevi (co-producer & engineer), Buist (vocalz) & Agee (cutz).
'Original members, Quiz and Mevi, were part of separate graf crews in the late eighties and hooked up in 1989. Quiz and Mevi quickly formed a friendship, with Quiz getting his first taste of hip hop from Mevi, already a DJ. Mevi had also invested in a 4-track and was creating and recording beats. An inspired Quiz started to write. Recording as R.D.Romz, the pair got props at gigs and on the pirates. Eventually, their track ‘Taking Care Of Business’, was picked up by record label Tam Tam.
'Buist was a later addition to the group in 1991, having known Quiz at school. After impressing with his style, knowledge and potential, Buist became the third member. With the nineties there came a string of gigs on the Essex circuit, including performances with The Brotherhood, London Posse and Blade. There also came a name change, to The Manoz.
'After taking time out with personal commitments the crew has reformed with DJs Agee & Filfee Franko to realise their original vision. 2004 was a busy year. They have had gigs supporting Blade on tour, as well as performances for the legendary Muffjam and Musical Propaganda parties. The recording side for The Manoz has been just as hectic. In addition to an album worth of beats, they have produced the track ‘Soldiers’ (featuring Respek BA and Life) for the Blade 12" 'Reflection'.
'The long awaited Manoz 12" is planned to hit the streets this year supported by a very special limited edition manoz mix cd - watch this space for details! There is also a series of gigs planned to coincide with both releases.'
