The Mardy Bums were an imaginary band created as a parody/homage (take your pick) to the emergent Sheffield Scene of 2005/2006, as typified by the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Milburn, Little Man Tate and Harrisons.
Despite the fact that the band did not exist and were an art project of a satirical/comedic nature, the majority of the music media reacted to the 'band' with derision and scorn, declaring them to be bandwaggon jumping chancers, (spectactularly missing the joke.)
The Mardy Bums recorded one single and played one 'gig' in disguise. Their single received radio play on BBC Radio1 BBC 6Music.
The Mardy Bums released their debut single on limited edition orange vinyl 7" via Thee Sheffield Phonographic Corporation on 24th July, 2006.
We didn't think that 'let the motherchuffin' good times roll' would have the same effect.
Perhaps we, too, will one day be banned from Radio Sheffield.
