Formed at the dawn of 2010, The Mark of Man have been waking the sleepwalkers ever since.
Boasting a line up of veterans of New Zealand metal and hardcore, 'The Mark of Man' is sure to turn heads and captivate the hearts of the current generation of heavy music fans.
'The Mark of Man' features current and ex-members of 8 Foot Sativa, Ulcerate, In Dread Response, Day One and Kill Me Quickly.
The band released their devastating debut self titled studio album in July 2010 on Deadboy Records with production duties handled by ZORRAN MENDONSA (Antagonist AD, Subtract, Cobra Khan) and PETER IN DE BETOU (Arch Enemy, Dimmu Borgir, Meshuggah) with artwork by ALEX ECKMAN-LAWN (Circle of Dead Children, Architect).
The debut album was released to critical acclaim and the band's first year saw them head out on a handful of highly successful headline dates across New Zealand, land the direct support slot for The Black Dahlia Murder & Unearth (USA) and receiving a nomination for Juice TV's BEST MEAL VIDEO 2010 for their first music video and single 'The Albatross'. At the end of 2010 'The Mark of Man' went on to win the coveted Best New Zealand Metal Album of 2010 in the Kiwi Metal Bar awards proving the fans are standing right behind them even from such an early outset.
2011 is set to be a huge year for the band, with many exciting plans in the pipeline, including much more touring, a new single and music video, an exciting contest and many more. The coming months will see the band locked down in the studio writing for their sophomore release; an album that is sure to eclipse all of the band members' previous work. The material will establish a sound unique to 'The Mark of Man', a culminated influence from many styles of aggressive music, drawing on our collective histories as musicians. Expect an album that will truly set the benchmark for metal releases both in New Zealand and abroad.
