The Marvans are an exciting new three piece band who have been busy writing, recording and performing their own style of alternate pop rock since they formed in early 2009.
Hailing from the North-West Coast of Tasmania, The Marvans are a combination of Vanessa Garratt, Leigh Hill and Marcus Wynwood.
The Marvans capitalise on the diverse range of musical influences each member brings to the group. Vanessa identifies with the sounds of Australian folk music such as Clare Bowditch and Angus & Julia Stone. Marcus enjoys Radiohead, David Bowie and Jimi Hendrix, while Leigh has grown up on a diet of hard and fast punk. This unique blend of backgrounds gives The Marvans an individual sounds and this is what makes them one of the more exciting new bands entering the scene at the moment. The Marvans main focus is their original material, but they also have a great range of popular and alternate covers.
The Marvans have headlined at SeaFM's 2009 Summer Beach Party, supported Michael Paynter on his 2009 Tasmanian Tour, had airplay on radio stations such as CoastFM in Tassie and 3WBC in Melbourne and played a stack of gigs across the north of Tasmania.
