In 1975 I started drawing on everything that had a blank white space on it. The Euclid Police were after me for all this artwork. This search/hunt went on for two years. In 1977 I was finally caught and arrested. Every cop on the force showed up to take me in, even off duty cops. They treated me very well and they had me draw pictures for all their kids. These days my work gets put on either paper or drawn in the computer. I have put out two books of drawings and are available. $10 ea.
When I had to go to court for being the masked cartoonist in June of '77, I was just under 18, so I was in Juvenile court (with a substitute referee yet). My two older brothers John and Tom came with me as my Legal Defence team. The referee said, "I'm charging you with defacing public property", and I said to her, " I was putting faces on the walls and signs not taking them off, so technically I was facing public property". That broke the ice and she didn't charge me with anything. She said I had to clean everything off of the city of Euclid, but I told her the only thing that would clean up the markers I used was gasoline. "Do you want me walking around the city with a can of gas?" She said "No!". Plus everybody liked the stuff anyway. It was a conversation starter for everyone. So I got off. The guy who was with me when I got busted (who talked me into doing it that night in the first place) was over 18 and had to clean garbage trucks on hot sunny weekends. I heard he did a lot of throwing up.
