The Max Allen Band can be described as an 8-up combination of musical genres. You never know what they might play: Reggae, Rap, Funk, Rock and the list goes on. Be sure that whatever this four piece plays, it is going to be top notch. Max Allen’s strong vocals and smooth stellar guitar tracks intertwine with Robert Coates’s deep palate of chord voicings, and doctorate worthy guitar work. Meanwhile, in rhythm land, it’s being laid on thick and juicy by bassist Dace Robie. His six string fretless makings seem to somehow, telekinetically, sync with the back beaten beats by the one and only Shaan France. His mesmerizing, hypnotizing, heart beat driven drums leave MAB fans wanting more. MAB delivers a technically solid, well seasoned performance, laced with improvisation, experimentation, and the overall love for the music they play and the fans they make. Once thought of as, ‘An amazingly full sounding trio’ now is an ‘Astonishing Four Piece’.
Through the combined talent of these professionals the Max Allen Band has consistently wowed audiences throughout the Midwest and continues to gain fans with every performance.
The MAB tours regularly and performs about 125 shows per year. Over the past seven years Allen has had the privilege of performing on stage with and/or opening for a number of great musicians and bands including The Clarks, Jim Ryser, Larry Crane (John Mellencamp), Chris Duarte, Dishwalla, Carrie Newcomer, Otiel Burbridge, Dickey Betts (Allman Brothers), The Spin Doctors, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Ekoostik Hookah, Dark Star Orchestra and Umphrey's McGee.
The Max Allen Band is currently signed with Big Walnut Records and is also a member of the Homegrown Music Network.
