The first record (TME01) from The Mayan Empire Recording Empire is Get Going, a split digital-only release from Alina Simone and Gabriel Miller-Phillips featuring two songs each. They both grew up in Massachussetts, so we thought it would be fun to ask them to write songs about their home state and do a short tour through the northeast. The album is now available at iTunes, Napster, and eMusic.

The Mayan Empire began as a fake band. Our album Songs for Somebody will never be released, but if it were released it would include our hit song "Cram it in! (Song for Travis Harrison)." We've also designed t-shirts and pins, rocked various houses as a DJ team (we do weddings), made a short film, launched a popular website (see below), and booked shows in our kitchen and in other, more spacious locales. We are now a full-fledged MEDIA EMPIRE.

You guys should team up with that guitarist from Man In Gray, the old bassist for The Marks, the guys in Exploding Motive Symphony Orchestra and those kids in Hula Cougar, and form some sort of supergroup. Call it: "Inbred Voltron."
