   About The Maybelles
Sing Out! says:
"The Maybelles are a trio of talented young women...with a dynamic stringband sound. enerrgetic, hauntingly beautiful, humorous, old time roots...songs that emanate from a place and time long ago - 'Leavin' Town is a lovely collection of newly composed and classic songs about the rural south."
TD, Summer 2008.

Charlie Gillett, BBC, London:
"They might be the great grand daughters of country singers from the 1930's"

Mikael Wood, Village Voice (feature article The Maybelles/Nickel Creek/The Duhks), New York
"A triumph for equal-opportunity bluegrassers. Never once sinks into mere bluegrass reverence"

- Mikael Wood, Village Voice (feature article The Maybelles/Nickel Creek/The Duhks), New York

Dave Higgs, Nashville Public Radio - Bluegrass Breakdown.
"I love bands that are willing to explore new territory. I love the instrumental combination, the old-time real country feel, the close harmonies and the sprightly fiddle playing. I think you all are onto something big. Thanks so much for sending me a copy of Leavin' Town" <

The Nashville Scene at IBMA:
Their re-working of old time country and jug band blues is remarkably nuanced...Leavin' Town is a brilliant album."
Edd Hurt (feature) The Nashville Scene at IBMA

I'm a big fan. They've got it all. Good writing. Good voices. Good sound." Mike Shirkey, KUAF 'The Pickin' Post' Host, AR.

"Beautiful, soulful record." -Jolie Holland

UK Tour, 2009! Pix and reviews:

This terrific trio is everything you would expect from a folk country blues outfit: deliciously sweet harmonies and dexterous hands that can turn their skill to all kinds of buoyant Appalachian bluegrass and mountain music. The North Devon Journal

It's exactly what you want, a good-time band in a good-time pub. Who'd have thought that a bit of the Appalachian mountains by the beach would make a perfect night out? Brighton Artists and Makers

Their own songs had the air of classics in the making. The Maybelles make well-matured, fiery, musical moonshine – with a twist. The Argus Daily, Sussex

Top 12 DIY White Trash Jenny is Chock full of good old fashioned fun!
