Just to get it outta the way, 'cos it's so damned obvious: THE BEATLES (and their solo members).
Okay, now that THAT'S been established...
The Macs' musical inspirations are enormous, ranging from jazz to pop to progressive (the music, not the insurance company), with smatterings of C&W, R&B (~real~ R&B, not that nonsense they're trying to fob off on the general population as R&B), classical, acid rock, fusion, power pop, jangle pop, bubble punk, et cetera.
To name but a handful of influences: XTC, Genesis / Peter Gabriel / Phil Collins, The Police / Sting, Adrian Belew / The Bears / King Crimson, Kevin Gilbert / Toy Matinee` / Kaviar, The Who / Pete Townshend, The Producers, Spock's Beard, John McLaughlin, Willie Nelson, Junior Brown, The Monkees, The Kinks, David Bowie, Robert Palmer (forget "Addicted to Love" -- go out & buy the album "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley" & go from there!), John Scofield, Gentle Giant, the Dalai Lama, Mahatma Ghandi, Bill Hicks, George Carlin, Rodney Carrington, Ron Shock, Sam Kinison, The Griffin Family, The Simpsons, Al & Peg Bundy, The Hills of Arlen, TX., and everyday life in general.
The Macs are a fusion of several different bands' members, most notably 5ive AM and Zen Archer. Having known & worked alongside one another since the '80s, it was only a matter of time before they finally hooked up to form a band.
And now, 13 years later...
