The Meanie Geanies
Their set includes some real cool shakers, dark & moody punkers, topped with many covers they like to play Meanie style!
They go back a long time and have been gigging all these years, solo, in festivals or opening for their fave bands: The Sonics, The Fuzztones, Electrelane, Sky Saxon & The Seeds, The Sound Explosion and “Diaphana Krina”.
They have played with some of the coolest bands around: The Last Drive, The Frantic V, Yesterday's Thoughts, The Cardinals, The Walking Screams, The Outtasites, The Psykicks, The Teardrops, The Teddy Boys From The Crypt, The Cheenaskees, The Social End Products, The Voyage Limpid Sound, etc.
The Meanie Geanies have taken part in lots of Festivals like the Athens Festival (Lycabettus Theatre), Belle Vue Weekender (60s 3day fest), Garage Festival (Gagarin), Vavel Comics Festival, Indie Free Festival, Antiracist Festival, Greece Gone Garage Festival, Velvet Festival, TRIPolis Rock Festival, Music Day Fest (in Larissa & Athens).
And they have given their own wild allnighter shows in dark, smokey basements or cool nightclubs, all over Greece and beyond: Athens, Berlin, Instanbul, Thessaloniki, Komotini, Agrinio, Kalamata, Larissa, etc.
So far they have put out 2 singles (I’m On My Way & No More) and a DIY cd including covers of some of their fave garage punk gems (Cover Ups!). They have also participated in several compilations (Enjoy The Greeks - Vol. II , Today's Top Girl Groups - Vol. 1, Come To Where The Action Is... , Velvet DIY).
The Meanie Geanies are about to record their 1st LP, as both their singles have been sold out - only few precious copies of No More 7” still lie around in the Meanies’ headquarters... to get it contact: themeaniegeanies@yahoo.com
